lichen! is a political exercise in decentering the anthropos in favor of the not-quite-classifiable, the lichen, one of the first actual manifestations of officially recognized symbiotic relationships. It is the observation of a non-human and more-than-human creature that, through old and new technologies of visualization allows for a rethinking of care, offering a worldview that transcends biological boundaries and reckons with the multispecific connections on which human life depends.
